Lacey Stinson is a surrealist at heart. Hints toward this fact are even evident in his plein air landscapes. Weathering the rain, sleet, and burning Southern sun, as he does, just to place a few marks on paper or canvas, one might think madness. But this is often what it takes. If there is a price to pay, it is worth it, in Lacey’s mind, to turn varied fantasies of life into treasured cultural artifacts of our time.

Plein air sketches on paper, and studies on paper of existing plein air paintings on canvas.

Plein air paintings on canvas, mostly of Mitcham Peach Orchard north of Ruston, Louisiana. Also plum trees and a pear tree.
